Celebrating 50 years of CILEx in South Wales

Gareth Jones, Head of the Commercial & Chancery Group, and others from Civitas Law attended the 50th Anniversary CILEx South Wales branch Annual Ball, which also celebrates the Graduation of CILEx graduates in South Wales.

CILEx South Wales Branch held its annual ball on 2 March 2013 at St Davids Hotel & Spa, Cardiff Bay.   The popular event was attended by local CILEx members, solicitors, the judiciary and honoured guest, HHJ Milwyn Jarman QC and CILEx Chief Executive, Diane Burleigh OBE. The Presidents of the Cardiff and Rhymney Valley Law Societies,  the President and Secretary of the Confederation of  South Wales Law Societies and Sally Milton of STTEPS were also in attendance

During the evenings events there was a Graduation Ceremony for graduates who could not attend the graduation ceremony during their year of graduation.  The graduates, Sally Fitzherbert, Cheryl Williams, Sarah Wright and Denise Sciubba were presented with certificates and recited their Pledge with other Chartered Legal Executives.  The Student Prize Awards were sponsored by Civitas Law, Barristers Chambers in Cardiff.  The Students were presented with Certificates by Nick Hanning, CILEx President and Gareth Jones, Barrister of Civitas Law presented the Students with a cash prize.   

Gareth said it was ‘a fabulous and glittering occasion which I am sure the newly qualified Fellows will remember for the rest of their lives. I wish everyone well in their chosen careers’.

Student Prize Awards were presented to Luke Dodds (pictured above), who was nominated by ILEX Tutorial College, Jonathan Freeman, nominated by Coleg Gwent, Catherine Howells (pictured below), nominated by Lexium Legal Ltd and Dimuna Gething, nominated by Cardiff and Vale College.  CILEx South Wales Branch also welcomed Mr Michael Walters to the CILEx South Wales Branch as Honorary Branch Member.

 

CILEx South Wales raised £402 on the night to donate to Cancer Research UK. Temple Legal Protection sponsored the drinks reception.
