Christopher Howells secures £347,000 award in Employment Tribunal claim
Christopher Howells successfully represented a former teacher in her claim for disability discrimination and unfair dismissal before the Cardiff Employment tribunal. The Claimant, who suffered with Bi-Polar disorder, was found to have been dismissed for a reason arising from her disability. Separate findings were also made that the duty to make reasonable adjustments had been breached in a number of material respects.
Civitas Law's members appointed as Judicial Officers for 6Nations
Civitas Law were once again in attendance at this year’s 6Nations Disciplinary Conference, held at the Lensbury Hotel over the weekend, ahead of a busy period in the rugby calendar.
Nicholas David Jones, Richard Cole and Owain Rhys James are all appointed to sit as Judicial Officers for the 6Nations tournament (including Womens and age grade competitions). They regularly sit as Judicial Officers for the EPRC, Guinness Pro12 and the WRU.
We are looking for pupils to join Civitas Law in September 2018.

Owain Rhys James appointed to CIArb Wales Committee
Owain Rhys James FCIArb has been appointed to the committee of CIArb Wales.
Owain became a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in 2015 following completion of an MSc in Arbitration, Dispute Resolution and Construction Law.
Owain accepts nominations to act as an Arbitrator, Adjudicator and is also a CEDR-trained mediator. He sits as a judicial officer for the WRU, Guinness Pro12 and Six Nations rugby. He is also an Independent Chair Person for the FAW’s Appeal Committee.
